The defendant or their family typically pays a non-refundable fee, usually 10-15% of the bail amount, to the bondsman, who then posts the full bail with the court. If the defendant attends all required court appearances, the bond is fulfilled. However, if they fail to appear, the bondsman may be liable for the full bail amount and can take legal action to recover it.
